Joseph Caldwell Mickle (1844-1903) from Chapel Hill, NC, was the son of Andrew and Helen Norwood Mickle. He entered the University in 1862, joined the Philanthropic Society, and left in 1864 without receiving the degree. He served in the Confederate army, then became a Methodist minister and teacher in Bryan, TX.
